Teenagers give Eminem credit for keeping it real because unlike most rappers that rap about woman, money, and fame, Eminem sings from a more realistic standpoint. A lot of what he has gone through in his life is reflected in his music even if it involves hate, it is his true raw feelings. A lot of people can respect a writer for putting their true emotions and life events into their music. Most artists today will rap about anything and make it sound popular with the beats they put behind the lyrics whether there is true meaning there or not.
Eminem is not afraid to show people what he has gone through in his life and express how he felt at the time. One can complain about the language if anything but sometimes, there are no better words to express feelings. He is not afraid of taking risks and will talk about anyone that he feels he needs to put out there and tell how he feels about them. I think that teenagers appreciate how real he is about how he grew up and things he has gone through. This helps teenagers see that their life can get worse so to appreciate what they have.
Most of the music I listen to is reality based. It is important because it is true and easy to relate to music that contains true meaning to the artist. Eminem has a lot of different music that many can relate to and enjoy. A lot of teenagers especially can relate to at one point not getting along with their mother. It helps when you find someone you can look up to and relate to. It is easy to appreciate someone’s true feelings rather than music that has no meaning behind it.
Eminem is well known and appreciated for his metaphors on real ideas in his music. He admits to almost trying to rap against lil Wayne and acknowledges that he would’ve lost that battle. In his movie 8 Mile, he risks being judged by putting his life events out there but he was not afraid of what anyone thinks. He also has a sense of humor in his music. In his song, We Made You, he makes fun of other famous people who he feels that they think they are so famous and everyone wants them. He has no fear to put his feelings out there whether it is about someone else or about his life events.
Eminem is not afraid to sing about the people in his life. This is something that most artists do. He sings about other artists who have helped him out in becoming who he is and sings about family members including his daughter. He expresses the love that he has for his daughter and he even included her saying something at the end of one of his songs. You can’t help but appreciate him as a father. I love when an artist can put their true selves in the music.
I wrote my blog this week on Eminem also. I completely agree with everything you said about him in yours. Are you a fan? I am a fan and I think that you are too because you said his lyrics are raw and you would have to have heard his music to know that. He keeps it real, for sure. No one is rapping about their lives in the same way as Eminem. He gives away what he feels not caring if it's politically correct or not. He is one of the bests. There is no denying it. Did you watch 8 Mile? It was really intense and I was surprised that he could act so well. His recent comeback has been awesome too. Eminem is unique and definitely a very talented lyricist. I look forward to seeing how his life plays out as well as his progress as an artist.
ReplyDeleteEminem does have a certain amount of respect when it comes to fans. He stood up against the odds that were stacked against him becoming successful and managed to overcome it all. Many artists discuss real life events and real emotions in the music. It really comes down to how the ideas are presented to the fans. There can be a solid set of ideas or an event that is deeply meaningful to the artist that he or she feels “needs to be in a song,” but if the music, the beat, and the correct lyrical flow isn’t there, then the song won’t be accepted by fans and critics; and although the song is “real,” there is a certain amount of monetary desire by all artists, no matter what they tell you.
ReplyDeleteI think that Eminem does tell a fair amount of truth in his lyrics, but there are also many songs of his that are just for fun, or possibly stretch the truth a bit to make the song a little more interesting. I am not going to knock Mr. Mathers in his ability to rap and write catchy tunes that can tell a story, but I do not feel that he is any more “real” than just about any other rapper out there.
